Most of the weathering is now done
and as you can see from the above photo the end result is almost
the same as the store bought items. The first three arches
from the left is a store bought sample, placed in the picture for
a comparison to the actual archway I made from a plaster cast.
The three arches on the right are the plaster casts. The casts
received a coat of light brown paint, after the paint had a chance
to dry a coat of watered down black paint was brushed on and wiped
off to bring out the cracks and crevices. Finally a light
coloured paint was dry brushed on to highlight some of the peaks.

Lots of work still to do on the little
village and the roadway. Grass was planted by brushing on
some white glue and using a squeeze bottle from Noch to distribute
the grass fibers also from Noch. This is a messy procedure
but can be cleaned up quickly with a vacuum.

Some trees have been planted and
many more to go. The trees in the above photo were made from
furnace filters and skewers. The pine trees were finished
off with a dusting of dyed sawdust to give the tree a more realistic
colour.
